While Trump continuously attempts to pull all the levers he controls to rig the ’26 midterm elections, he doesn’t control state legislators who set state and local election rules. This is precisely why our work with The States Project/Game Changers Giving Circle is Donald Trump’s nightmare! Who are The Game Changers? We are a group of 200+ donors nationwide, working together since 2022 with The States Project to build Democratic state legislative majorities—where critical decisions are made on voting rights, healthcare, education, climate action, gun safety, and more.
Our Goals are Simple:
· To defend Michigan’s one-seat Senate majority and flip four seats in the Michigan State House back to the Democratic party. If a Democratic Governor is elected, we’ll have our 17th Democratic Trifecta.
· To raise $100,000 - an oversized goal that meets the oversized need in 2026. Including matching dollars, we are at approximately 20% of our goal with nine months to go. Great progress but lots of work to do!
Why Help Michigan? Michigan is one of the most critical states in the country. It’s a policy bellwether; a large population, an industrial + agricultural economy, a major federal swing state and home to influential courts and legislation.
Good News from Michigan!
· A Special Election for Michigan’s 35th State Senate District was held on Feb. 3. The States Project supported Democrat Chedrick Greene, who won 60% in a six-person primary, despite Republican efforts to elevate a candidate they saw as easier to beat in the May 5 Special Election. This strategic investment positions TSP for success in both May and November.
· The Trump DOJ filed a lawsuit against MI Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to force her to turn over Michigan’s state-wide voter registration list. A judge just tossed out this lawsuit. Democracy 1, Trump 0.
